UNM Cancer & Treatment is a 206,000 square foot five level facility that provides fully integrated, world-class comprehensive cancer diagnosis and treatment, ushering in a new era of hope for all New Mexicans facing cancer. This facility serves as the hub in UNM’s Statewide Cancer Care Network, with links to outreach clinics and programs in Las Cruces, Santa Fe and Farmington. The objective was to create a highly functional and technologically state-of-the-art facility that would promote efficient patient care and high staff performance.

The Cancer Research & Treatment facility holds central air handling chilled and hot water Haakon units along with medical gas lines. The duct work in some areas is as large at 195”x84” and suspending chill water pipes below the duct made coordination paramount to the success of this project. The entire project was detailed in BIM 3-D format to ensure the best space planning and coordination of all trades was utilized for the optimum construction schedule and on time project delivery.
