Responsibility
The implementation and administration of these guidelines are the responsibility of facility maintenance personnel or a service contractor hired buy the facility management or owner. The methods or techniques by which tasks are accomplished will depend on the knowledge and expertise of individual employees; the education of employees through in-service training; the use of technical operating and service manuals provided by equipment manufacturers; guidance from service contractors and resource publications. Facility maintenance managers are also encouraged to provide additional guidelines not contained in these pages to better meet the requirements at their facilities.
SAFETY
Safety is integral to operation and maintenance functions. Managers and supervisors should be safety conscious at all times. As a general safety precaution, it is recommended that managers and supervisors stress the importance to all operation and maintenance personnel that tools, equipment and material be used only for the purpose(s) for which they were designed.
It is also recommended that all safety warnings are followed and qualified personal perform these tasks.
